Kara Leong is Executive Director of iCAMP and the UC Davis Cultivated Meat Research Consortium. iCAMP is a multi-institutional collaboration (UC Davis, UCLA, USDA, CIA, UMBC, Solano College) focused on accelerating sustainable alternative protein commercialization through biotech, agriculture, fermentation, and biomanufacturing.
The center includes 45 experts advancing plant-based, fungal, and cell-based proteins. Efforts span education, workforce training, consumer research, food safety, policy, culinary innovation, and entrepreneurship.
Kara has 20+ years in biotech research, fundraising, and partnerships. At UC Davis, she supported multiple research centers and previously held roles in agtech and biopharma startups, including Chief of Staff at TurtleTree.
